Does West Virginia add money to SSI?

West Virginia does not add a cash supplement to SSI. If you get SSI and live in an adult family care home or personal care home, the state may pay the home for some care services for you (Adult Services Program). That payment goes to the home, not to you, and it does not count as income for SSI.

Medicaid in West Virginia

If you get SSI in West Virginia, you are automatically eligible for Medicaid. You should get a medical card from the West Virginia Department of Human Services. You do not need a separate Medicaid application.

Medicaid for working people with disabilities: Medicaid Work Incentive (M-WIN)

M-WIN is Medicaid for people with disabilities who work. You must be 16 to 65, meet Social Security's disability rule and have a job. Your total gross income must be at or below 250% of the federal poverty level. Your unearned income must be at or below the SSI payment level. The asset limit is $2,000 for one person or $3,000 with a spouse, but some assets are not counted. You pay a $50 enrollment fee and a monthly premium based on your income. Coverage may continue for a while if you lose your job or your condition improves.
