Who decides your claim in Georgia?

Disability Adjudication Services (DAS)

Does Georgia add money to SSI?

State Supplement for SSI recipients in nursing homes

Georgia does not add state money to SSI for people who live at home. If you get SSI and move into a nursing home that Medicaid pays for, Social Security lowers your SSI to $30 a month. If SSI is your only income, Georgia then adds a state supplement of $40 a month. This gives you $70 a month for personal needs.

Paid by: the state

The total uses the federal SSI amount for that living arrangement. For people living on their own, the federal SSI part is $994 a month for one person or $1,491 for a couple in 2026. In another person's household or in a medical facility it is less.

How to apply
There is no separate application. It is handled as part of your nursing home Medicaid through the Georgia Division of Family and Children Services (DFCS).
