Does South Dakota add money to SSI?

Optional State Supplemental Program

South Dakota pays an extra monthly amount to some adults on SSI. You must be 18 or older, not in school, live in South Dakota, and live on your own (a home, apartment, hotel room or boarding house room) or in someone else's household. The payment stops if you have income other than SSI. People in institutions, adult foster care or assisted living do not get this payment.

Paid by: the state

How to apply
You do not need to apply. The state Department of Social Services starts the payment when Social Security tells the state that you get SSI and meet the rules.
